It’s that time of year again—the one where a bad coat can break your outfit and a good one can completely make it. Which means it’s also time for me to round up my favorite styles for the season, and talk about a few pieces in particular that I’m really loving. So let’s get into it!

The Multi-Media Moment

I’m loving coats that combine a few different fabrics or textures—suede, teddy, leather, fur, quilted, etc.

It’s such a great way for a coat to make a statement and elevate an outfit without necessarily having to commit to bold colors or patterns.

I’m especially loving a cool collar or cuff, like with this Hazel Trench Coat from Sister Jane. It’s a classic trench with long lines, made interesting with the black cuffs and the fur, cheetah print collar. It’s such a fun way to engage with patterns and veer from the classic trench, while still having a piece that you can wear again and again with a number of different outfits.

All Leather

I love a leather trench. Love them. I think they make even the simplest outfits so effortlessly chic.

With a plain tee, slouchy jean, and sneaker; or a night-out mini dress and heels, the leather trench is versatile to work with both. It’s so valuable to have a coat in your wardrobe that can transition across occasions, and these are great for that.

I really love a colorful moment when it comes to this style of coat—especially this beautiful burgundy Vegan Leather Harlow Trench Coat from ATROÌR. I love the bit of shine from the patent leather, and the deep color is a great alternative to the classic black leather coat.

All For (Faux) Fur

Fur coats never go out of style, but it’s all about how we update them every year. This season, it’s not necessarily one style I’m drawn to—it’s the colors.

I’m loving a warm toned brown when it comes to fur coats—anywhere from a lighter camel to a deeper mahogany. I love the depth and dimension the colors bring, and I find when it comes to faux furs, those shades tend to look really good and high end even when the piece itself isn’t really expensive.

The Julia Faux Fur Coat from The Ragged Priest is a piece I’m loving right now—the silhouette is oversized without being overwhelming, and the color way is just totally gorgeous.

Eye-Catching Puffers

When it comes to puffers, they typically tend to veer on the boring side. They’re utilitarian—stylish isn’t a word that tends to come to mind. But I’ve been loving puffer coats that completely shirk that reputation. Bold colors, unique silhouettes, and fun prints. I like them so much, I’ve actually got two different recs for you.

The Crop Cocoon Puffer Jacket from Maeve is one of my current obsessions. It’s not only this gorgeous deep shade of pink, but it also has a belt that creates a totally unique silhouette. It still feels casual, but won’t bring your outfit down.

Another piece I can’t get enough of is the Lady Puffer Jacket from Lisa Says Gah. The silhouette is straightforward, and even features a little mock neck for extra coverage. The cow print is a fun statement without veering from neutrals, and the bow closures down the front add a bit of sweetness to a more masculine silhouette.
