One of my undeniable truths is that I am a mini skirt girl, and finding the perfect one was a journey. Something simple, comfortable, with just the right rise and length—it’s more complicated than you think. But on that journey, I found Guizio, the New York based womenswear label founded by Danielle Guizio.

I came for the micro mini stretch skirt, but I stayed for the beautifully structured corsets, amazing fabrications, and timelessly cool pieces.

One of the things I love about Guizio is that they have signature pieces at the core of their brand—their corset, in its various iterations, and their skirts. Guizio’s commitment to perfecting these simple pieces, and then reinventing them in a variety of stunning styles, is a huge part of what makes the brand so special. Everything they create is based in the concepts of high quality fabrics, and excellent structure and production.

The essence of a corset is incorporated into so many of their styles, not just the corsets themselves. One of my favorite examples of this is the simple white button down, made with lining under the bust, a fitted waist, and a slight flair at the hips to create a beautiful silhouette. It’s a straightforward piece, made interesting through its unique construction.

They bring something similar to their knits and outerwear, like with the cinched waist cardigan I’ve styled with their plaid mini skirt. The cardigan itself is textured and more heavyweight, so the proportions are beautifully balanced with the fitted waistline.

Where they veer from structured pieces, they lean into gorgeous flowy fabrics, like with their metallic mesh styles.

The silver, gold, and black fabrics are used in a number of different pieces, from flowing maxi dresses to two piece sets, all alike in their simple silhouettes and nearly ethereal look.

What’s so unique about Guizio is how they’re able to maintain such a trendy, current vibe without straying from their core styles.

They reinvent what they’re excellent at in a way that feels fresh. Their use of interesting fabrics and prints give even their most similar styles a new feel—plaid, knit, tweed, metallic corsets, made to feel like completely different styles even though they’re essentially the same structure.

Guizio stands out because you can see the thought that goes into every piece. The brand is founded on the idea breaking tradition and pushing the boundaries of style through purposeful designs. They balance masculine silhouettes and flowy feminine styles perfectly through their deliberate designs, details, and choices in fabric.

The price points range from $15-$578, with most styles falling between $100 and $300. With everything from knits to outerwear to dresses—and even some shoes from their new collaboration with Puma—the price reflects the thought and detail that’s gone into each and every design.
